I am looking for info on g.g.g. grandfather Dominick Lacerda (Domingos Ferreira de Paiva Lacerda) born probably Porto, Portugal around 1807. In 1858 Dominick F. P. Lacerda married Jane (unknown)born c1809 in Sydney, Australia. His son, born in 1829 to Jane (unknown) born c1809, was also called Dominick Lacerda.

It is believed Domingos Ferreira de Paiva Lacerda moved to Australia sometime before 1858, and Anglicised his name.

Any help or info about anyone in this family greatly appreciated.

Well you are in luck! Another site showing Horace LACERDA, son of Dominick & Elizabeth, with his complete file on his enlistment in Australian Army in 1915. This is the site of the National Archives of Australia.

Dominic & Jane married in December 1856 at Scots Church, Jamison St, Sydney.
They had 12 children, 6 of whom survived childhood.
Dominic applied for naturalization in May of 1891 stating his age was 61 years, his place of birth Oporto in Portugal & that he had arrived in New South Wales in 1850. No ship is named & I have yet to find any documentation regarding his arrival, but I d

Australian documents have various spellings of Dominic,Dominick, Lacerda, Lacorda, deLacerda. Only the death certificate of Jane in 1893, to which Dominic was the informant, gives a full version of his name & even on that document the spelling appears differently in 2 places...
The clerk recorded the name

Dominic's own signature is clearly

Any suggestions or assistance at tracing Dominic's ancestors in Portugal would be much apprectiated.
