I am researching my French ancestors who went to India.  I have -

Parents:  ??  LIMOUSIN  married  Charlotte  ??
known children -
- Arthur Hastings b. 1806  m. (1) H L AUGUSTUS; (2) Mary HENRY; d. 16.4.1855 Calcutta, India
- Caroline b. circa 1808 m. James SCRATCHLEY; d. 22.5.1855 Calcutta, India
- Louisa (my ancestor) b. 25.11.1810 m. George Augustus POPHAM; d. 21.7.1881 Calcutta, India

Arthur's Will provided his mother and sisters' names.

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Pam,
You seem to have quite a lot of English names as well. I wonder why they went to India. Before 1850s it was most likely to have been in the employ of the East India Company. (Hastings was an influential name, too.)
Have you been to the archives of the Hon East India Company? The archive is in London, at the British Library I think. The indexes there are good. I found it very helpful.

Thanks Bill for your valued advice, however I live Downunder.  The best resources available are the Presidency Indexes and LDS films.  Limouzin appear in the Indexes after 1875 from a family of merchants in Burma.  Unable to connect my forebears to this family.  FIBIS, Rootsweb India and GenesReunited have been rewarding though not for Lemousins.
